Ben Wheatley directs this psychological thriller based on the 1938 Gothic novel by Daphne Du Maurier. "I wanted to make something that had more love in it,” he explains. “It’s part of trying to investigate other parts of being human. Rebecca has dark elements, and it has a psychological, haunting story within it, but it’s also about these two people in love. That was the main thing.”

A young newlywed (Lily James) arrives to her husband’s (Armie Hammer) family estate, Manderley, just off the English coast. She finds herself competing with the shadow and legacy of his first wife, Rebecca, and Manderley’s sinister housekeeper, Mrs Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas) ensures the haunting legacy is kept alive.
